Our many years of experience have given us at Morga a wealth of knowledge. We know how to produce safe products.
We're happy to point out the differences between the certifications that can be found on our products. Other ingredients that may cause allergies are clearly highlighted in bold in lists of ingredients.
You know how you want to eat, what's good for you and what you should definitely avoid. Food legislation is becoming more and more detailed and prescribes different declarations.
Many consumers also think about fair production conditions and the environment when deciding on a purchase.
Whether EU organic, Bio Suisse’s "Knospe", Demeter or Fairtrade – Morga clearly communicates the respective certifications on the packaging:
Some of our products are specially manufactured in accordance with halal or kosher guidelines and have been checked by official bodies. You can find a list of all officially certified Morga kosher products here Download (PDF). We will be happy to inform you about halal products. Our company is Halal certified - products are tested on request.
Morga takes responsibility and invests in the future – both on a small and large scale. We put sustainability into practice and develop it. It's also an important part of our company philosophy. Our homeland, the beautiful region of Toggenburg,
should also be liveable and lovable for future generations – other regions and countries should have a fighting chance to develop independently. Morga focuses on the following four areas:
We honor sustainability initiatives by innovative thinkers and doers and promote the active exchange of producers. Interested - you can find the details on our project platform.
The Morga company has its origins in India: Ernst Lieberherr moved to India in 1910 for Volkart Brothers and, during his 20-year stay in this very different country, became acquainted with exciting products and forms of nutrition that were previously unfamiliar in Switzerland and, above all, with vegetarian food.
When he travelled back to Switzerland in 1930, his luggage was full of soya beans and knowledge about plant-based nutrition. Following his new convictions, he looked for ways to share his passion with the Swiss. And so it was that he founded the company Morga in 1930. Since its foundation over 90 years ago, we have been developing, producing and distributing vegetarian and organic foods of all kinds.
The company has grown steadily over the last three generations and expanded its product range. The Morga range now includes over 1500 active sales items from 10 different product categories, mainly of organic quality. From syrups to fruit spreads, dried fruit, teas, nutritional supplements, cereals and much more. Further specialties have been added in recent years. In addition to special diets, the focus is on nutrition for allergies and intolerances, such as coeliac disease, as well as religious beliefs. Morga produces a portfolio of free-from products, for example for gluten-free or sugar-free diets, and exports products that are halal or kosher certified.
Today, Morga employs 110 people at its site in Ebnat-Kappel and 35 at its sister company in Germany. The machinery and production facilities have been constantly renewed and adapted so that production can still be carried out efficiently in Switzerland today. However, careful processing and attention to detail have never been neglected. Industrial production lines are nowhere to be found at Morga. However, Morga is so well equipped that it not only produces under its own brands, but also successfully produces foodstuffs on a contract manufacturing or contract production basis. In addition to state-of-the-art tea machines and filling systems, the Ebnat-Kappel site also has various special machines for small and medium-sized batches. Boiling, drying, flaking, baking, extracting, blending: all specialties of the SME in Toggenburg.
However, it is not only the production possibilities that are decisive, but above all the development of healthy and convincing ideas and products. It is important for Morga to constantly adapt to changing market needs and to distinguish between short-term nutritional trends and valuable new forms of nutrition. New gentle processes, exciting new discoveries and, above all, new eating habits and customer demands must always be recognized, evaluated and adapted to the Morga philosophy. Fast and uncomplicated distribution is another important component. Morga is on the road for its customers every day. Every store in Switzerland is supplied weekly so that customers always have the right product available in the right quantity. Morga stands for building the right bridges: recognizing market needs, using suitable production methods and distributing products efficiently - always in line with the credo "naturally vegetarian food - from people for people".
